CHRISTIAN WARRIORS

Do not let anyone give you the impression Christians are supposed to be weak, defenseless peaceniks who abhor violence. We must remind all followers of Christ that the original followers of Christ, the Apostles, were armed with swords.

“Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus. Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?” John 18: 10-11

“And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” Luke 22-35:36

The Apostles were armed, and instructed to be so. While Jesus prevented Simon Peter from further defense of Jesus, knowing the time for his destiny had arrived, he made sure the Apostles could defend themselves, since they would be the ones to bear witness, and needed to survive to do so.

In the world of today this has not changed. If you bear witness for Jesus, you ought to be armed just like Simon Peter. Do not “live by the sword”, but do not be a defenseless victim either. Be prepared for your persecution, and be prepared to defend your brothers and sisters in Christ. Deus Vult. God wills it.
